I have to write an essay entitled "Methadone Maintenance Is Simply Legalised Drug Abuse" and I was wondering if anyone out there can help me. There are six main questions I must answer:

1. Why should drug users receive treatment for their addiction?
2. Are there advantages or disadvantages to treating drug users?
3. Should drug users be maintained or simply detoxified (I don't know what that means!!)?
4. What other forms of treatment could be considered?
5. Is there a place for prescribing drugs of preference?
6. What are the implications for health education?

Since the essay has to be handed in for December 1998 I don't want any replies after that date.
